Transition

Starting nursery and moving up to different rooms can be very difficult times for you and your child. At Robin’s Childcare we realise that parents can be just as anxious of their child moving up to a new class or room so we make sure that this is a calm and stress-free process for all involved.

Once you’ve decided that you and your child want to become part of Robin’s Childcare, we ease them in gently; before your child starts with us we offer free trial sessions for you to come in with your child and get to know the staff who will be looking after them. This allows time to get acquainted with the room and to meet new friends. It is also a good opportunity for your child’s key person to ask any questions regarding routines but also for you to ask questions and put your mind at ease.

When it is time for your child to move up rooms, they will also have trial a session with their current key person so they can slowly ease into the new room and meet their new key person. In early childhood providing support and careful management during transitions is of the utmost importance. It is essential to encourage your child toward a new transition by presenting it as something fresh and exciting. Change can be daunting and unsettling for your little one so a positive approach for your child is very important.

When it’s time to go to ‘big school’, the pre-school staff and the Early Years team will work together to make this an easy process. We do provide ongoing support for your child (through the Out of School Club) and will provide you with a leaflet with handy hints and tips for making make the transition as smooth as possible.
