The Gruffalo’s is our preschool room for children aged 3–5 years, and it offers a stimulating, thoughtful environment where children develop the skills, confidence, and independence they’ll carry into school and beyond. Rooted in The Curiosity Approach, the space encourages children to think deeply, ask questions, and follow their own ideas through meaningful play.
Real-world materials that spark creativity
The Gruffalo’s room is filled with authentic resources, natural textures, and real-world materials that spark creativity and challenge children to discover how things work. From early maths, mark-making, music and art to imaginative small-world play and hands-on investigations, children are inspired to explore all areas of learning in ways that are purposeful and joyful.
Encouraging confident communicators
Our practitioners focus on building strong relationships, supporting emotional resilience, and encouraging children to become confident communicators. We gently guide them as they practice turn-taking, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making — all skills that lay the foundation for a positive transition to school.
Imaginative thinkers and capable learners
The daily rhythm balances calm, focused activities with opportunities for movement, outdoor exploration, and child-led play. Each child’s interests, strengths, and unique personality are celebrated as we help them develop independence, self-belief, and a lifelong love of learning.

- Pre-School Sessions 9.05am to 12.05pm: £26.40
- Pre-School Sessions 12.25pm to 3.25pm: £26.40
- Breakfast Club: £8.95
- Hot Lunch 12.05pm - 12.25pm: £6.80
Funded
For eligible funded 3 year olds
- Enhanced childcare: Per Funded Session 9.05am - 12.05pm: £4.00
- Enhanced childcare: Per Funded Session 12.25pm - 3.25pm: £4.00
Government funding does not cover meals or our enhanced childcare.
All food is cooked with fresh ingredients on site. Meals included for a whole day are breakfast, morning snack, two course lunch, afternoon snack, two course tea.

Please note this charge is voluntary, this includes nappies, wipes, nappy cream, suncream, forest school, kitchen expenses, lower ratios for local walks, and outings online learning journey (Famly) and lots more, for more details please contact the office.
Government Funding
We can offer funded places for 9 months to 4 years for eligible families.
This is available from the term after your child turns 9 months, 2 years and 3 years, this is for 30 hours funding for 38 weeks of the year, we offer stretch funding through the holidays.
